You're going to figure out, pretty quickly, that you can't max everything out. So you may find yourself giving a few points here, taking a few points there, to optimize your badges. How you distribute these points also determines how many badges you get in each category. This is where you do the actual work of differentiating your player from everyone else's. The prior skill breakdown was only the template. You get approximately 450 attribute upgrade points, and you have to distribute them. Then comes one of the most important steps you set your potential for each of your categories. You can always go back and change things later. You can't go wrong with choosing an evenly balanced physical profile if you're not quite sure. Think of your preferences as a player, and adjust accordingly. Again, your decision should reinforce your prior selections. Next, choose your physical profile, where you decide on the splits between Agility, Strength, and Vertical. If you look at the chart on the left, you can see the potential maximum ratings for each category, as well as what rating you start with. If you're a big, you want more red so you can crash the boards. If you're a point guard, you want more green, which corresponds to shooting. Again, these should roughly conform to your floor position, or you're going to get a player who's mediocre in everything. The next thing you'll do is choose a skill breakdown. Increasing your weight and height makes a significant difference in your other stats this year.

It's important to note that NBA 2K20 nerfed the "cheese builds" this year. Pick whichever position appeals to you most. And the power forward and center are defense and post-oriented. The small forward is an all-around threat who specializes in slashing towards the rim. Generally speaking, the point guard and shooting guard are perimeter threats, with an emphasis on ball handling, playmaking and shooting. The first thing you'll do is choose a floor position: point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward, or center. Go to M圜areer from the main menu, and launch the MyPlayer builder.
